This summer the adrenaline thrill seekers are back on the water competing in the Thundercat Racing 2010 National Series. Reaching speeds of up to 80km/h on the water and clearing heights above the waves of 4m, this years race season is set to thrill spectators at beaches across the Country.
Many of the New Zealand Thundercat Racing teams compete in the World Championships and this years National competition promises to be fiercer than ever with 22 boats competing for the New Zealand title.
The winners from the last two seasons, Rough Rider, are taking a break this year throwing the competition wide open. Exceptional form in the warm up meets has seen new comers Logan Pringle with his new female co-pilot Sarah Barrell in ‘Smuggler Boats’ leading the pre-season races. Close behind are Zane Randle and Anthony Coombes in UR MUMA and Scott Radley and Cam Vernon in Blackpepper. Not to be underestimated are the Thundercat Racing veterans including; Steve Frogley and Steve Morrison in Plumbquick, Tony Vercauteren and Matt Birdsall in Goodyear and Darren Jessop and Perrin Reilly in his new boat 'Blue Cougar'.
With title bragging rights and pride on the line beachgoers are sure to have a thrilling time watching the racing at New Zealand’s hot spots including Whangamata, Mount Maunganui, Lyall Bay, and Piha as well as races on the Cook Strait and around the Cape.

- 16 Jan – National Surf Cross: Waihi beach
- 30 Jan – National Endurance: Waipu Cove
- 31 Jan - National Surf Cross: Waipu Cove
- 13 Feb – National Surf Cross: Lyall Bay Wellington
- 14 Feb – National Endurance: Cook Strait Wellington
- 27 Feb – National Surf Cross: Piha beach
- 28 Mar – National Endurance: 90 mile beach Kaitaia
