Be part of Bike Wise month, come and join us for a fun day on your bikes. Come along and join in all the awesome bike based games and activities.

There will be spot prizes and lots of fun.

You need to be wearing your helmet and shoes to ride! (Jandals and sandals are not acceptable).

Win a brand new bike, helmet, lock and lights. Register your family on the day and go in the draw to win a brand new bike sponsored by Avanti Plus. The prize will be drawn at 2pm. You have to be there to claim the prize. One entry per family.

Jiggles is an extremely funny, talented and accomplished children’s entertainer. He will be on his bike too. But it might only have ONE wheel. Jiggles will lead a short ride for younger children on the shared path, parents to accompany your children on foot or on wheels.

Think that you have the skills to keep your seat? Test your cycling skills on this fun obstacle course. Qualified and experienced staff from Manukau on the Move will provide specialist instruction on how to navigate the course that is set to test your skills going over, around, under, sideways and all ways around hazards! They have bikes and helmets for children to borrow.

Get to know your local park. This is a great fitness event that you can complete at your own pace. Families ride along following a set route, at each completed section you get your race card clicked. Children under 10 yrs must be accompanied by an adult.

Cycle Games
Join one join all. Short games you can join in during the day:
• Go slow race – The slowest cyclist who doesn’t put their foot down wins
• Bike egg and spoon race
• Bike quiz

Ride to Pigeon Mountain BMX track and have a go!
This is a 5 km return ride along the shared Rotary Walkway. The Mountain Raiders BMX club will be at the track to demonstrate how BMX runs and other BMX tricks and spins. This is a great BMX course for young riders and beginners. You need long sleeves and pants to ride. Full face helmets are also compulsory and can be borrowed on the day. Cyclists need to cross one road to get to the track.

Parents we advise you ride along with your children. You can borrow a Nextbike free of charge to ride there and back, but not on the BMX track. Mountain Raiders BMX Club accepts no responsibility for damage or injury caused to any person or property while participating in any activity within the confines of the BMX track.

Bikes are available to borrow from Nextbike. There are no excuses for parents not riding with you on the day. They can borrow a bike for free and have a go. You will need to leave an item as a bond for returning a bike. A credit card, car keys, wallet or a $ 20 cash bond is acceptable.

St Johns Ambulance staff will be in attendance for the whole event.

The event will be held in Farm Cove Reserve. There are many walkways and access points to the reserve including Bramley Drive, Davita Place, Fisher Parade and Sanctuary Point. Limited parking is available down the drive close to the reserve. There is another small carpark off Bramley Drive, at the intersection with Belmere Rise. Otherwise please park on one of the above streets. Remember to be respectful of local residents and park legally.

On Yer Bike Day is an outdoor event, so it is dependent on the weather. All events/stations are planned to go ahead but may be cancelled for participant’s safety.

The event organisers reserve the right to cancel without notification.

Contact the council's call centre on 262-5104 to check for any cancellation notice.
