Celebrate Waitangi Day in the Waitangi Treaty Grounds in Paihia.
Schedule of events:
- 5.00am: Dawn Karakia (in front of Whare Runanga)
- 9.00am: Waka Karakia (Te Tii Beach)
- 10.00am: Sports Events & Children’s Activities (Sports Ground)
- 10.30am: Karakia – interdenominational Christian service (Waka Korowai)
- 12 noon: 21 Gun Salute
- 12.00 – 4pm: Variety Entertainment (Hobson’s Beach/Maikuku stage)
- 5.00pm: Waka ki Uta – Housing of Waka (Hobson Beach – subject to change)
- 5.30pm Beat Retreat, Sunset ceremony, lowering of flag (Treaty Grounds)
- 6.30pm Whirimako Black in concert (Hobson’s Beach/Maikuku stage)
Free parking is also provided on the estate for the free concert on 5th February at 6:30pm by Ray Woolf and the Rodger Fox Big Band. (Celtic folk group Sula will be the opening act.)
