The Culture of the Rose: The Rose’s Enduring Allure, 26 March at 11am in the Musuem Auditorium.
As part of the exhibition Wonderland: The Magic of the Rose, Maggie Barry is joined by rose experts and designers to discuss the symbolism and influence of the rose in art and culture.
The panel features top New Zealand designer Trelise Cooper; art critic Keith Stuart and Auckland Museum’s Curator of Botany, Ewen Cameron.
The fragrance and beauty of the rose has seen it associated with ancient Greek goddesses and Christian saints and symbolise sentiments of romantic love as well as cycles of life and death. Discover just why the rose continues to captivate at Fabulous Fridays.
Each Fabulous Friday runs for approximately one hour in the Museum Auditorium.
Entry via the southern atrium.
