Isis is a Los Angeles, California-based band, founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1997. They have borrowed from and helped to evolve a sound pioneered by the likes of Neurosis and Godflesh, creating heavy music consisting of lengthy songs that focus on repetition and evolution of structure. As such, a great range of musical labels are used to describe their sound, including sludge metal and post-metal.

The band's fifth studio album, Wavering Radiant, was released by Ipecac Recordings on CD on May 5, 2009 and in a limited vinyl edition (Light Blue 100 copies, Dark Blue 400 copies, Yellow 900 copies) on April 29, 2009. The album features Adam Jones of Tool.

Grandiose without being over-indulgent, epic without compromising focus, ISIS, with Wavering Radiant, have manipulated its tactics and strategies with a refined sense of purpose and a heightened knack for nuance. They've extrapolated on the polar nature of their music; simultaneously their most challenging and accessible material to date. And in February 2010, ISIS will make their long-anticipated return to New Zealand shores, their first visit since their much-heralded 2007 performance in Auckland, over a two date tour also taking in their first appearance in Wellington. With antipodean clamour for the band’s live masterworks at an all-time apex, the demand for the chance to witness the ISIS live experience will likewise be high. Avoid disappointment at all costs.
