It’s saucy, sexy and coming to a park near you.
Free salsa in Myers Park is an initiative sponsored by the K’ Road Business Association which will see a series of five free salsa lessons being offered to community members amid the leafy environs of century-year-old Myers Park.
The classes, run by Latin dance school Viva Latino, will begin on Thursday 25 February and are open to people of all ages and experience.
‘They’ll be fun and friendly and not at all intimidating, says Viva Latino director Sione Greer. ‘We’ll be taking people from beginner’s steps through to mastering the fundamentals of timing, leading and following.’
Attendees will be confident enough to go on and dance socially by the end of the course, he says. Partners are not required and dancers are advised to wear comfortable attire and footwear – preferably shoes with a tie or strap.
If you’d like a taste of the dance form which Sione describes as being characterized by ‘an infectious Latin beat’, get yourself down to Myers park at 6pm on Thursday 25 February where dancers will be meeting below the kindergarten.
