Mile High will be touring from Auckland to Queenstown this silly season. They will be on stage at Williamson Park from 9pm as part of the musical opener to the Whangamata Summer Festival's evening concert six night line up.
The Whangamata Summer Festival is a not for profit community group who fund raise all year round, in order to provide a focus for youth, young families, locals, holiday makers and the elderly, by staging night time concerts, volleyball competitions, skate competitions, a kids holiday programme and a huge craft market day. This evenings music kicks off a six night programme with a wide range of musical genres - something for everyone's taste!
To kick off the Festival we are holding a night time craft market - with loads of food vendors on Monday 27th December from 4pm - 8pm. Then a day time craft market will be held on Tuesday 28th December from 9am - 4pm. See our listing regarding the markets - they will be simply awesome - and the largest in the area by far. Kick back after the market with local sounds, followed by a rocking rising band!
To open the Festival our local "Bluetone" School of Music students will be on stage from 7:15pm, followed by local band Road Runner at 8pm. We encourage budding young talent - so it is fitting that the kiddies get to open proceedings! Come on down and support the rising stars! We like to give local bands stage time also, and following Road Runner will be our head liner... Mile High.
Mile High are a 5 piece rock band from Auckland, New Zealand with an upbeat rock sound fused with catchy tunes and vocal melodies. Catching the lively energy of hits by bands like the Foo Fighters along with a toe tapping sound, Mile High make an effort to keep their audience entertained with high energy performances, that leaves their listeners wanting more.
Their debut single "Now" was released in April 2009 and went on to score air play on The Rock, Kiwi FM, C4 and The Zone FM. Following this success, Mile High performed at The 2010 Big Day Out, TV3's Sunrise, The Big Night In Telethon as well as The Bog Band Fest in Christchurch with The Midnight Youth and Dane Rumble. The band was a top 20 finalist in MTV's 42 Unheard competition as well as The Jim Beam Homegrown Band Search.
The band's latest release is their second single "And Again" which was produced, engineered and mastered by Andrew Buckton at Studio 203. “And Again” is a perfect snapshot of the band’s rock music roots, influenced by bands like Pearl Jam, Sparta, Led Zeppelin, and Queens of the Stone Age.
Mile High was formed in 2008 and consists of Aditya Maharaj (vocals), Kevin Nolan (guitar), Paul Nolan (guitar), Chris Chamberlain (bass) and Quinton McMillan (drums).
Mile High has no affiliation to the infamous club nor do they frequent aeroplane bathrooms.
