End of year concert. The Wanganui Male Choir will be performing its 235th concert and will be singing a variety of popular songs from the '60s to enforce the theme “My Girl”. There will also be the customary Christmas songs/carols where audience participation has been the norm for a number of years. This year the choir will be out-fitted for the first time in their new dark navy jacket uniforms which were obtained in preparation for their first overseas concert tour to Norfolk Island planned for April next year.
As usual, the choir will be augmented with a number of guest artists. Winifred Livesay (soprano) will be combining with Ingrid Culliford (flute) to present a number of duos. Both artists have enjoyed an international musical reputation of high calibre and we are extremely fortunate to have them in Wanganui. Noah Bunkley is the junior guest artist from Collegiate School and has been learning the classical guitar for ten years. He recently won the Sonja Wilson Memorial Scholarship where he was the second classical guitarist ever to enter and the first to win. Noah has an exciting career ahead of him as he continues with both his guitar gifting and his biomedical science studies at Auckland University next year.
