Auckland Council is providing free guided walks on Waiheke Island during December 2010 to March 2011. Walks begin at 10.45am - Matiatia Ferry Terminal, Waiheke Island

December - every Wednesday
January and February - Wednesday and Sundays (check calendar for dates as it will not run through the Christmas to New years breaks)
March - every Wednesday.

You will need to have an average fitness. No bookings are required. Bring: snacks, water, suitable footwear, sun protection and a raincoat, some money if you want to go for lunch or coffee at the end of the walk. Toilets may not be available during the walk.

Catch the 10am Fullers ferry from Auckland's ferry building to Waiheke Island. A professional guide will meet you at the Matiatia Ferry Terminal on Waiheke with a sign saying 'Free guided walks'.

Each walk is approximately 1 to 2 hours and will usually include a mix of coastal, bush and hill tracks. There will be a different route each week. All walks are suitable for dogs. The walks will take place rain or shine. If organising a group larger than 10 people we would appreciate a call to let us know.

For more information go to www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or Phone 09 301 0101.
