The End of the Golden Weather is a play that was written by one of New Zealand's most admired playwrights Bruce Mason. The play was first performed in 1959 as a solo piece which Mason himself performed many times.
One of the scenes from the play is set at Takapuna Beach on Christmas Day in the 1930s so it is fitting that this scene is now traditionally held on the same setting (Takapuna Beach Reserve) every Christmas Day.
Actor Stephen Lovatt will perform the scene. All donations, including Lovatt's acting fee, will be kindly donated to his charity of choice, Oxfam New Zealand.
Every year this family event has grown in popularity and in its fifth consecutive year this scene from the play is proudly brought to you with help from the local council and the efforts of Roger Hall.
