Dropkick Cousins DJ set. Party DJs from the capital, the Dropkick Cousins hit Revolver Queenstown. The official after party for the Rhythm & Vines Taster in Queenstown on the 29th December at Queenstown Events Centre.

Marek a.k.a. Maz Def & Kev Fresh, two West Auckland expat’s found out after many a drinking session and late night jam that they share a common love of parties and the global world of big tunes. Now Wellington’s finest booty bass masters take time out of their individual residencies to come together for the sake of the ultimate rumpshake... The Dropkick Cousins.

They return after a brief hiatus of world travel, a little older but definitely the wiser but with these two leaders back in the club scene together again expect to hear the freshest tropical, UK funky, bass, and hip hop vibes from around the globe.

Individually Marek has his roots firmly placed in hip hop soil, but eventually found the progression to uptempo club music had come naturally to him. After 5 years spent in the USA and London he is currently championing the UK funky and big room bass sound with his own unique style, building a reputation as one of the country's premier party DJs, whilst Kev’s sound has matured into one of the most original and upfront on the scene. Seamlessly fusing the past, present and future styles of new bass music, house, UK funky and tech house. After spending over a year away in the Canada, US and Europe rubbing shoulders with some of the major players in the dance community he clearly brings to the table all that he's absorbed on his travels.

Together they have collectively been playing music for close to 20 years now nationally and overseas, each bringing their own flavours into the mix, creating something special. The DKCs don’t just play tunes but craft them into something exclusive with a mixture of remixes, bootlegs and their own re-edits. Being favoured by the broad 18-35 'early adopter' demographic The Dropkick Cousins have an ability to spark any party and keep it popping all night, with some of the biggest queues ever seen at their local monthly residency at Good Luck Bar in Wellington.

Having already played with some of the biggest artists in the world including Diplo, MIA, De La Soul, DJ Zinc, The Sneaky Sound System, Ajax, DJ Marky, The Nextmen, Bang Gang, Tittsworth, Sinden, Jakes, DJ Sega, Ladyhawke among countless others, as well as high profile local artists and events including Summerset, Nationwide Orientation shows, Shapeshifter, Bulletproof, the Upbeats, Maya and Vanya, Homebrew, The ARC, Chaos in the CBD, Street Chant and Mt Eden Dubstep to name a few it's been a busy few years for the boys...

...And with Summerset 2011, Madcap 2011, Caspa, Rusko, Homegrown, Pharoahe Monch, Mos Def, Roska, as well as many others including a nationwide tour already locked in for the next few months the momentum doesn't seem to be slowing down!

With these 2 seasoned travellers at the helm, expect a truly international show with the focus not being about one particular genre, but a mash up of the best up front and classic party joints around... And of course loads of fun classics to keep everyone grooving and to make them realise that they really are part of the global dance scene!
