Science and history are being brought to life at Auckland Museum these holidays with hands-on encounters with fossils, relics and research discoveries from the bottom of the ocean. Volcanoes and Giants takes place against the backdrop of the museum’s award-winning Natural History Galleries and includes a series of activity stations where children can explore the workings of the world – past and present.

Find out how rats track wetas and try it out, help create a feathered tyrannosaur and ponder whether these great beasts actually had them and see what scientists have found out about the world under the sea.

• Dino story-telling – settle in for dinosaur story-time between 12pm-12.30pm daily.
• Feather a T-rex – help the Museum team create the feathered tyrannosaurus rex between 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm daily.

Natural History Galleries. Free.
