In what has already been a brilliant year, Zowie brings her new live show (with full band) for two Auckland shows at Galatos on December 18 (the Saturday just before Christmas).

Like Joan Jett with a drum machine, Pulp Fiction bangs and kaleidoscopic baton swinging, Zowie (aka Zoe Fleury) is a futuristic cheerleader from planet Wow; a whip smart karate-proficient 23 year old with a penchant for percussion and a dizzying creative ferocity.

After signing with Sony Music, her single ‘Broken Machine’ (and its eye popping video courtesy of Special Problems) peaked as high as #3 on iTunes and enjoyed a month in the NZ Top 10, as well as becoming a permanent fixture on commercial and alternative radio and C4TV.

2010 has seen Zowie travel the world creating her debut album and touring the US where she took New York by storm this October, playing eight shows in five days and receiving blanket coverage from NY Times, Nylon and Fader and countless blogs.

"Zowie's potent mix of PJ Harvey meets Kate Nash… a killer introduction to the young and beguiling ingénue." - sentimentilastmag.com

"Zowie = Religion. Sheer electro-punk brilliance. 9 Hearts!" - aheartisaspade.com

"A younger, bubblier, and punk-poppier version of Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs” - indieshuffle.com

"Remember the buzz that surrounded the gorgeous MNDR after CMJ 2009, or La Roux all year? Pay attention now to this little minx.” - sentimentilastmag.com

Closer to home, Zoe Fleury’s life as one half of punk duo Bengal Lights, and as Bionic Pixie has included shows at The Big Day Out, Rhythm & Vines and opening for The Kills and Peaches.

This new live show (with full band) packs an irrepressible frenetic energy. Mark Zowie on your festive calendar for what will be a party not to be missed.

Zowie is pleased to welcome Pikachunes (Miles McDougall) to open both shows, playing twisted electronic disco music taken from newly released self titled Album Of The Week (BFM, Cheese on Toast).

Don’t miss these first two NZ shows.

Doors 5.30pm for the all ages show, 8.30pm for the R18 show.

Tickets from undertheradar.co.nz and ticketmaster.co.nz.
