In charting their personal journeys, Chris Charteris and Niki Hastings-McFall have chronicled not only a New Zealand journey, but the universal endeavour to make meaning, to establish belonging. Their expressions of a respective here and now, past and present mirror our collective histories and experiences.

Both artists salvage material from their respective environments in the development of these notions of identity. The clarity of vision Charteris and Hastings McFall bring to bear and the strength of their vision has produced art that lingers in the psyche long after viewing. These works resonate in the subconscious and move the spirit.
