As you head up the hill making your way to the Centre of New Zealand, discover the magical world of the Lantern Celebration, with wonderfully wacky installations and performances. Join the celebrations at the top of the hill, watching the sun set and the darkness rise. Then it’s time to head back down the path using your lantern to light your way through the wonder of the night.
Get creative and make a homemade lantern. Use a battery powered light to avoid fire risk. Bring warm clothing. Children under 13 must be supervised by an adult.
