The Napier City Council and Hawke’s Bay Today present the 12th annual Napier community New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Sound Shell.
This will be the traditional family-safe concert at the sound shell from 8.30pm New Years Eve where the whole community can enjoy the music of Hamilton-based band Hitlist, and the incomparable John Rowles.
A zero tolerance liquor ban is in effect so that the celebrations can continue to be in a family-safe environment.
Interestingly enough the band Hitlist is lead by Layton Lillas, the man who led the band that played the New Year’s Eve event at the Sound Shell as we saw in the new millennium at the end of 1999. That was the first in the series of New Year’s Eve events at the Sound Shell, and now 12 years later the event is still being staged and he is back to entertain.
The Veronica Bell will be rung just before midnight by Napier Mayor Barbara Arnott, then, just after 12, all can once again enjoy thunder in the sky as the Lion Foundation fireworks display is unleashed.
Start 2011 with a bang!
