The Bay Cities’ Symphonic Band will be present their ‘Summer Promenade’ concert at the Napier Soundshell on the Marine Parade. The band will play under the baton of not only the well experienced John Snowling and Brian Kennedy, but also Laura Grady, a French horn player and music teacher at Kereru School, Joanna Bradnock, one of our flute players who moved here from Australia and has previous experience with conducting, and our newest starter, also a flute player, Melanie Musther.
The band will play a wide selection of music from marches such as Salute to the Colours, Barnard Castle, Bandology, On the Quarter Deck, Army of the Nile and the famous Dambusters March, to popular pieces such as Birdland and Heal the World. The trumpet section will feature in Travellin’ Trumpets, and as a special treat Amy Dunn will sing You Raise Me Up and Over the Rainbow. Along with many other pieces, the band will also play a few Christmas carols – Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Winter Wonderland, etc.
So, bring along a chair and your afternoon tea, and join the Bay Cities’ Symphonic band.
