Shed 2 Triathlon Series

Well when you think summer you must be thinking Triathlon!

The Shed 2 Summer Triathlon series is what it is all about this summer. There are five events this summer and at each event there are three different races with different distance and options that should suit everyone from the absolute beginner to the seasoned athlete. Walkers are welcome and encouraged to enter.

This series is recommended for anyone aged 13 years and over. You can do the event as an individual or if that seems a bit much, get a friend and do it as a team. You could even get two friends and really have a fun and relaxed day out there.

We only give spot prizes for these races but there is a really friendly atmosphere at the prize givings held at the Shed 2 Bar after all the races. Here you will find out the results and may event win a great spot prize.

Race Distances are as follows:
• Watt Insurance Triathlon (Enter on the day)
200m Swim
14km Cycle
2km Run/Walk

• Avanti Plus Hastings Triathlon (Enter on the day)
750m Swim
21km Cycle
4.5km Run/Walk

• Swim Heretaunga Standard Distance Triathlon (Pre Entries only)
1500m Swim
42km Cycle
9km Run

Registration is at the race venue which is Humber Street, Pandora Pond in Napier. Enter on the day , no need to make up your mind until race morning. No pressure on you at all.

Members get $5 discount on entry fee so take a look at our membership page for more details on that.

The entry fee is as follows:
HB Multisport Club Members - $15
Non Members - $20
Teams - $20 per team (note this rate applies whether you have 2 or 3 people in your team)
These entry prices still makes these events the cheapest triathlon you'll find in New Zealand.

Prize giving is found at the Shed 2 Bar and there are always plenty of spot prizes avaialable. We don't give place prizes but we do acknowledge those who did well. We also acknowledge our volunteers who gave up their morning to marshal so they also go in the draw for some spot prizes.

Standard (sort of) course also available:
We have also managed to include a Standard Distance Triathlon on the 19 December 2010 and 20 February 2011 for those of you who were wanting to step it up to another distance or want to use it as a training race for a Half Ironman or a National Series Race. Please be aware that we have added this event to our calendar to give you a low cost option of a standard tri. To do this you must accept that there are no bells and whistles to this event. (No prima donnas allowed)

By accepting the waiver it must be stressed that Traffic Management will be in place but no safety marshals will be on the course until 10am so you are expected to know the course by checking it out prior to race day.

The swim is two laps of the pond but you do not have to leave the pond after lap one and re-enter the water. The cycle is 6 laps of the course but you must count your own laps and we rely on your honesty with this. The run is 2 laps of the run course but please do not go under the finish tent until you have completed your second lap.

Please note that if you wish to enter either of these races you need to let us know your intention to race as the start time is different to that of the other races on the day. Entries must be in by Midnight the Thursday before the event and must be done on line. (No exceptions).

Entry is a flat $23 which includes the enter on line fee. That fee is the same for individuals and teams. No discount for members - sorry about that folks but it takes into consideration the extra work involved.
