A program of songs, words, and instrumental music, recreating a family Christmas entertainment of the last century in beautiful Alberton, the Victorian Auckland home originally built for the Kerr Taylor family in 1862.

The evening or afternoon starts with refreshments and there will be time to view the decorated two storied home as you enjoy the live background music.

The concert in the ballroom will commence with actor/recounter Ray Henwood, singer/harpist Cathie Harrop, and pianist Paul Harrop with his legendary Victorian style monologues. They will be joined by Dave Khan with fun on his mandolin and fiddle, and Jennie Khan, in Auckland on a brief visit from France, bringing with her the beautiful sweeping popular melodies of the day on her cello.

These accomplished performers will take you back to a time when Christmas was celebrated with parties, dances, and balls without the stress and commercialism of today. The program is a mixture of Victorian melodrama, laughter and nostalgia. This unique entertainment is followed with supper on the veranda and time to talk with the costumed performers.

Guest are invited to wear Victorian costume or fancy dress for the final performance on Dec 15th at 7.30.

As this is the 25th year of this series various performers from the past years have been invited to attend and join the evenings performances.
