Beach, Beats & BBQs - Ellerslie's Boxing Day Infield Event

Ellerslie’s new Boxing Day infield event, Beach, Beats & BBQs, combines all the best bits of summer set to the backdrop of an exciting day’s horse racing.

Beach, Beats & BBQs is like a day at the beach, your perfect backyard BBQ, a fantastic outdoor concert, and day chilling in the sun, all wrapped into a huge day out, with the added excitement of horse racing just metres away!

When we say beach, we mean beach! We’re shipping in more than 2000m2 of sand and 12,000 litres of water to bring a true taste of summer to the infield.

We’ll also be hosting summer’s hottest-contested beach cricket tournament and serving up a huge line up of some of New Zealand’s hottest music talent playing all your favourite tunes unplugged, including Jessie Gurunathan, Phil Stoods, Josh Leys, and to cap the day off, James Reid from The Feelers.

Pack up your Christmas Day leftovers and bring them along. We’re providing New Zealand’s longest BBQ for everyone to cook their meat on, plus there’ll be a huge variety of food stalls.

We also understand a classic Kiwi barbie wouldn’t be quite right without a cold beer or a glass of bubbles! While alcohol can’t be brought in with you, it certainly can be bought once inside!

So all that leaves is to place your bets and watch the horse racing action, pull up a stool at one of the themed bars, check out the family entertainment… or just sit back and relax.

Gates open 8am. Bars and entertainment starts 10am. First race approximately 1pm.
