In May 2010, Plastic Beach arrived in Camden, UK as the music of Gorillaz was performed over two stunning nights to critical acclaim.

In the wake of these Camden shows and performances at this year’s Coachella and Glastonbury festivals, Gorillaz will be making their long awaited live debut in New Zealand in December 2010. Audiences will be mesmerised by the live dynamism of Damon Albarn along with the full Gorillaz entourage including Bashy, De La Soul, Mick Jones & Paul Simonon (The Clash), Kano, Little Dragon, Mos Def, National Orchestra for Arabic Music, Gruff Rhys, Shaun Ryder and Bobby Womack.

Vector Arena in Auckland welcomes Gorillaz Tuesday December 21st.

The conception of the world’s first ‘virtual band’ all began a decade ago when music virtuoso, Damon Albarn and animator Jamie Hewlitt introduced us all to the fictional world of Gorillaz. A multi-genre quartet whose virtual members include 2-D, the delightfully flighty and enigmatic singer/keyboardist; Murdoc, the mysterious and irreverent bassist and the brains behind the group; Noodle, a ten-year old Japanese martial arts expert and guitar hotshot; and Russel Hobbs, the eloquent yet somewhat unhinged Brooklyn-bred drummer.

From their humble beginnings, the imaginative brainchild of collaborators Albarn & Hewlitt has grown and evolved and taken us all along for the wicked and wild journey. From Noodle’s assassination and reincarnation as a cyborg to Murdoc kidnapping 2-D and holding him against his will on Plastic Beach, their much anticipated arrival on Australasian shores can only reveal the next instalment of the wayfaring adventures of Gorillaz.

Gorillaz latest album Plastic Beach recently debuted at #1 in Australia with chart success around the world, including #2 positions in the US and UK, and # in Austria. The album went to #1 in the Billboard Alternative Chart, and #1 in digital charts in USA, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

Playing songs from all three of their critically acclaimed albums (Gorillaz, Demon Days and Plastic Beach) this landmark arena tour will include a dynamic production featuring multi-media video animation, artwork and film. As Murdoc says “A phantasmagoria of sounds, colours and assaults on the senses.”

An exclusive fan club pre-sale offer will be available. For more details go to Gorillaz.com.

Thanks for all of the amazing characters and ideas, everyone...sadly, there can only be one winner for this one and it's Nicky, otherwise known as 'Vina'.

    If I was to be the fifth member of The Gorillaz my name would be;
Dirtsquid: an enigmatic squid-like percussionist oozing with rythyms from cavenous underwater worlds.

Numero 2.5 - Running joke between my girlfriend and I. Every time my girlfriend needed to go to the toilet or was already in the toilet. On Melancholy Hill would be playing on the TV or the radio. So that is our bathroom song. The name Numero 2.5, use your imagination.

T-Mark - Just because... ! This is my English girlfriend's favourite band. She hasn't been able catch a concert for them at home and is absolutely stoked she might be able to on the other side of the world.

I'd have to simply be 'sis'. Nothing fancy or showy, just someone who LOVES the music. The Gorillaz are mine, and my sister's favourite and I'd love to take her to see them.

My name would be 'The Lone Ranga'. Cos having red hair usually means I'm the lone wolf of the pack. But when it comes to rocking the house I can move the masses like no other brother.

MishMash - An eccentric sagittarius of Hungarian decent. Prone to bouts of mania and meloncoly. Think Bowie in speedos versus Lady Gaga jumping out at you in a dark alleyway. MishMash is both charming and moody with a thick Hungarian accent and a thing for collecting bottle caps in peoples rubbish bins.
    MishMash quote: Wherez ze Beerz?

Otis Hamilton, globetrotting adventurer of the band who doesn't spend alot of time with the rest of the gang cause he's always off somewhere seeking out new wonderfull varied rythyms and melodies forged in the far corners of the world. He brings them back for the rest of his crew to digest and inspire them in new musical directions and all that nonesense. Cheers..?

'Low-High' - it's part of a family nickname and the supposed response when someone calls me by it is 'medium'. Personally I don't like the nickname but it makes me laugh because it's so lame and my alter ego would be kind of lame, a wannabe goth/rock child.

My name would be Poodle. I'd be the punkster-girly-alter-ego of Noodle and we'd get up to lots of mischief. I like making music from every day sounds like toasters popping or glasses tinkling or keyboards tik-ticking.

The latest new Gorillaz member has just announced been: Bim A-Ma Bungus.

Bim is a world renowned banjolinist - in fact the world's greatest, which isn't too hard as no-one seems to know exactly what a banjolin is. But what ever it is Bim A-Ma Bungus is a champion.

My name would be Zippora or Zippy for short. She would be the always vibrant but very crazy female member of the band who always wants to add that extra beat or complicate that rift to make sure everyone's up on their feet having a good time. But Zippy also has a dark side that when unleashed has the raw power of the most ruthless guitar soloist you've ever seen. Don't assume she's nice just because she's happy.

Lioness – Parkour pro. Father is in the armed military forces. Lioness is crazy and beautiful with a luscious mane of hair and a splendid collection of shoes. Has a soft spot for 2D. Can’t stand Murdoch’s body stench and tells it like it is. Likes to play god but lashes out sporadically making her seem like the devil at times. Adds a sweet feminine vocal sound to the group. Self-trained fire-eater. Arachnophobic but tries not to let it be known. Has serious trust issues when it comes to making friends so only lets people get so close before she backs off. Can be random and often takes off on her motorbike for days at a time without a word.. Devours Indian food. Men find her intriguing. Most women hate her. She’s the Angelina Jolie of the music world.

If I was a Gorillaz member, I would be a beautiful girl called Vina. Vina is the name of the Buddhist goddess of music. I would be dressed in a stunning sari in bright yellow (her attributed colour) She plays the lute so I would always be carrying one. I would have a serene, engaging and mysterious vibe.

Hoping to win this so I can take my awesome 11 year old son Sam, to his very first concert. We both love Gorrilaz music and concept. Would be a fantastic christmas present!
