A series of works inspired by nature using clay, wood and mixed media by emerging artists Aaron Hoskins (NgatiHau, NgaPuhi) and Shelley Chappory.
Aaron has a degree in Visual Arts and over 20 years experience carving and producing art. He is a local Whangarei artist of both Maori and European ancestry who works with wood, stone, clay and paint and is inspired by both the natural environment and his Maori heritage. “My artistic endeavours are a response to the inner workings of the human experience of life and the importance for everyone to spend some of their time in a state of personal inner refection.”
Shelley has a B.A in Art History and History, is currently completing her Degree in Visual Arts and has 20 years experience in the Graphic Design industry. She recently moved from Auckland to Northland to pursue a shift from the commercial to the artistic side of art. She creates in a variety of mediums including clay, paper, print and found art assemblages. “I am inspired by the beauty and hidden complexity of nature”
