Butterfly Pig and The Tenderizers:
Wellington 3-piece Butterfly P!G play inner-city country music - but it's a long way from the Streets of Loredo. The discarded takeaway coffee cup is their tumbleweed... bus fumes no doubt flavouring tunes like Stephen Hawking Floats and Bob Dylan Electrocuted (Voted '2009 best song you've probably never heard but should ASAFP' by Simon Sweetman on Stuff). The Tenderizers, newish Wellington 5-piece, play alt-country originals with a big shout to the hippie Americana bands who started it all. Lonesome and literate, with classic harmonies and all your favourite guitar licks. Album due in December.
