About Indian Classical Music -
Traditionally Indian music uses 22 microtones ('gamakam'). The microtones add variety to the Indian classical music. Thus it is often said that Indian music is 'melody-based'. Since microtones are so important in Carnatic music and very few instruments can produce all the frequencies in an octave, the best enunciation of Indian classical music is in vocal singing.
About the Artiste -
Gayathri Venkatraghavan is a fast rising fine vocalist of merit through her steady focus on the sensitive and spiritual facets of music. She has been performing regularly at various centers in India and has given performances in Canada, US and Singapore. She has a naturally attractive voice honed to perfection with bhava.
