Anna-Marie O’Brien is showing Cache which concerns aspects of daily life that are normally invisible to the naked eye and normally go unnoticed and hidden. ‘These works address the idea that the world we encounter every day is something most of us remain unaware of. Despite this, our own bodies are constantly processing the subtle variants of things that in our own minds remain unchanged.

My subjects revolve around the 'unseen'. Through the use of an 'everyday' medium (linoleum), I am addressing these ideas with both subtlety and friction. I want the viewer of my art to become aware of things that they were previously 'blind' to, and to question why things exist in a vacuum of unacknowledgement.’

Anna-Marie O’Brien and Gary Freemantle are represented by Mary Newton Gallery.

The opening event for all four shows is Saturday 28 August at 5pm, which will include a short art performance by Anna-Marie O’Brien. All are welcome and entry is free.

Gallerist Mary-Jane Duffy will introduce Anna-Marie O’Brien and Gary Freemantle’s shows and Mahara Gallery Director Janet Bayly will introduce Gerald Barnett and Nikolai Kokx’s shows. All the artists will be attending the exhibition opening.
