S'Math sin (pronounced "smashing") has a core of three Auckland musicians, Kathy McDonald on guitar and vocal, Doug Makinson on fiddle and Nigel Robertson on flute, whistles and vocal.
The band evolved from the Gaidhealtachd summer school in Northland and has been playing gigs and running ceilidhs for the past 5 years, often with ad hoc and eclectic groups of their friends.
S'Math sin specialise in mixing modern and traditional Scots and Irish music (and the odd Galician muneira!) and will get your feet going with sets of reels and jigs from the Celtic lands.
Add to that some old and new songs and perhaps a guest slot from a harper and uillean piper and the performance should be just the job for a cold August night!
