My new work deals mainly with risk taking. The risks are sometimes from personal experience and then some go further than that. Some of the visual situations I have created are intensely private and only offer clues for the viewer. Others are more explicit.

The use of imagery immediately identified with danger is deliberate.

This work is also my war cry, my defiant stand against the polite, the refined, the "niceness" I see in so much New Zealand Art.

Let's have some discomfort, let's be provocative!

In this land where art is mainly about tuis and jandals, I still remain determined to "rock the boat".
