On Thursday, 12 July, Parnell Galleries will once more serve up a tempting smorgasbord of New Zealand art through to 7.30pm - the perfect entrée to a memorable evening at one of Parnell’s great restaurants.
Take your time perusing Parnell’s contemporary, traditional and cutting edge array of fine art. This sociable event centres on the cluster of galleries located in the middle of Parnell Road: ARTIS Gallery, Jonathan Grant Galleries, Pankhurst Studio Gallery, Parnell Gallery, Pierre Peeters Gallery, Sanderson Contemporary Art and Sense Art Interiors.
On the menu this month:
1. Pankhurst Studio Gallery's celebrates its third birthday in Parnell with a showing of new paintings, and limited edition prints;
2. American born sculptor Jim Wheeler's affinity with the natural world is deftly expressed in his intricate bronze sculptures of NZ native and introduced flora - come listen to a talk by the artist himself this Thursday at Artis Gallery;
3. New works by Ian Kingstone run to 28 August at Pierre Peeters Gallery - “Strangely strange but oddly normal;”
4. “Love, Speed and Death” features at Sanderson Contemporary Art with Damien Kurth, Andrew Barns-Graham and PJ Paterson showing the response of three artists to popular culture motifs from the world of motorcycle racing.
5. Jonathan Grant Galleries’ Winter Exhibition 2010 features a selection of British and New Zealand oils and watercolours, including works by David Cox Jnr, Keith Money and Felix Kelly;
6. Parnell Gallery has new works on canvas and bronze sculptures including new works by Dalene Meiring.
Late Night Art Parnell runs on the second Thursday of each month and gives you the opportunity to peruse art you might otherwise not have the time to see. Add us to your social calendar now!
