Two expressive and wild Chilean musicians from Santiago will join Auckland performance artist Káren Hunter under the name Fear is the Enemy.

Felipe López is a masterful nylon string folk guitarist and Marcelo López sings and recites poetry in a deep sensual baritone. When the two men sing together they produce a wild unrestrained passion that expresses a highly individual viewpoint.

The brothers are complimented by Hunter's melodic vocalisations, guitar and percussion. This will be Karen Hunter’s first show at the Sawmill since releasing her latest album Words & Groove earlier this year. Hunter has been exploring spoken word performance poetry along with jazz grooves in her recent work.

Fear is the Enemy combines poetry with what the Lopez Brothers describe as ‘Hard Folk mixed with South American Folklore’ and captures the flavour of the brothers' journey from South American rock to acoustic folk.

This will be a wild and exciting show of original acoustic music. Through this band speaks a new and powerful energy, they make visceral music for these new interesting times.
