Utsav - A Festival of Indian Independence

We invite you to support and experience Utsav - “A Festival of Indian Independence”. The premier celebration of cultural diversity and an opportunity for not only ethnic groups but all New Zealanders, to take part in a celebration of our Indian Independence day along with the multicultural community of Auckland.

Coming to this festival you are immediately aware of a collective celebration of colourful costumes, the people and the arts and crafts. You are quickly immersed in the bazaar where you will smell the aromas of the east. Traders sell clothes, fabrics, jewellery, crafts and many other items. You can mingle with people from all over the world.

Food courts will have a variety of treats from all over the world and cooking demos too!

Stalls galore! Be it art and craft, jewellery, traditional garments and stalls where one can source information on education, home buying and investments.

You might see a colourful 16-year old Rajasthani dancer with nine pots balanced on her head. Japanese drummers and the Chinese martial arts performers, the Brazilian and exotic belly dancers join the vibrant Bollywood mix. The kids will find lots to do, face painting, magic shows and bouncy castles.

Every year it is growing as more people bring in new ideas to an already dynamic mix. A great family event with activities and food to entice adults and children.
