Mário Carreira (Portugal) – romantic guitar. Works for solo guitar celebrating the classical heritage of Haydn and Mozart by Ferandiere, Carulli, Matiegka, Sor, Diabelli, De Fossa and Kreutzer.

Mário Carreira specialises in Romantic guitar and holds a teaching position at the Porto Conservatoire. His special areas of interest include chamber music and repertoire for voice and guitar. Mário studied at the National Conservatoires of Lisbon, Portugal and Caen, France, at Evora University, and with many early music specialists including Hopkinson Smith, Manuel Morais, Jakob Lindberg, Monserrat Figueras and Anner Bijlsma. He performs a wide variety of solo and chamber music using period guitars and period technique. Mário visited New Zealand in 2001 to perform with Extempore and in 2007, when he gave concerts with AK Barok.
