Karen Grylls, ONZM, Associate Head of Undergraduate Studies, Associate-Professor in Conducting and Head of Choral Studies at The University of Auckland, directed the Auckland Dorian Choir (1985-1998), assumed the position of Musical Director of Tower NZ Youth Choir in 1989 and founded Tower Voices NZ in March 1998. In addition to being the current Musical Director of both of these national choirs Karen also conducts the Chamber Choir at The University of Auckland and directs courses in choral ensemble skills.
Dean Sky-Lucas has performed harpsichord, celeste, piano and organ with the MSO, OV and TSO, and regularly tours New Zealand, Australia and internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Following 15 years in Melbourne, Dean has recently accepted the position of Lecturer and Head of Collaborative Piano at The University of Auckland.
Eve de Castro-Robinson (b. 1956) has been commissioned and performed both in NZ and abroad by many leading orchestras and soloists. She is twice winner and once runner-up of the SOUNZ Contemporary Award, and twice winner of the Philip Neill Award. Portrait concerts of her music have been mounted by the NZ International Festivals of the Arts and Auckland Chamber Orchestra and she has two solo CDs on the Atoll label. A third, of orchestral work recorded by the NZSO, will was released in June.
