Scarred by death and driven by revenge, Elektra is chilling, terrifying and deeply moving. Richard Strauss, whose opera Salome probed the darkest corners of human desire, intensified the drama and musical depth for this powerful recounting of the ancient Greek drama. The result is Strauss’ most daring musical masterpiece – not to mention one of the most demanding parts ever written. The lauded dramatic soprano Elizabeth Connell performs the title role in this historic performance supported by a cast of outstanding local and international talents.
