"Donna Dean’s music resides somewhere between country and bluegrass with a pinch of blues, or to put it another way somewhere between Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch. Opening with the brittle What Am I Gonna Do, love on shaky ground, then progressing on to Baby Doesn’t Love Me, another song about love on the wane. The tempo is turned up a notch on Rain Fall On Me, a simple yet rousing bluesy guitar riff coupled with pulsing drum beat and the toe tappin’ Too High. Highs on this album include the sober Fireflies and the catchy Some Sweet Day. Bill Chambers' mandolin weaves in and out of the melodies with sincere grace. This is the best Kiwi country album I’ve heard in ages."
