Zoe Lyon - Miss Machismo

A stand-up stalwart of the UK comedy scene, multi-award winning comedian Zoe Lyons makes the leap to the international touring arena following 2009’s sell-out and critically acclaimed show ‘Miss Machismo’. Starting in the UK in February and finishing in New Zealand in May, don’t miss your chance to catch her on her limited runs in Wellington and Auckland.

‘Miss Machismo” is an hour of punchy comedy that explores, amongst other things, arming the elderly, gay penguins, and the Pope’s remarks about the blurring of the genders. Zoe thought this was a curious comment from a man who insists on wearing a frock with pretty red shoes but then people do say the strangest things. According to one audience member she encountered this year all lesbians pee standing up and you need balls to be a comedian. Well... ok then, ladies and gentlemen please welcome... Miss Machismo.

Zoe is also a patron of Pride alongside Stephen Fry, Sir Elton John and Sir Ian McKellen and in 2009 was listed in the Top 100 Gay Personalities in the UK. Her debut solo show “Fight or Flight” in 2007 earned her a nomination for the prestigious and coveted If.Comedy Best Newcomer Award and sell out shows in Edinburgh have followed.

She is also a much sought after act on the international circuit and has recently performed in Madrid, Barcelona, Dubai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, the French Alps and on the New Zealand Comedy Trust Christmas Tour, which saw her featured on the TVNZ gala in December. In the UK, Zoe has appeared on several high profile TV shows including “Mock the Week” (BBC2), “The Paul O’Grady Show” (ITV) and “Sexbombs” (BBC 2).
