The Big Braai in Wanganui! Open fire BBQ, South African style!

There will be an exciting, charged atmosphere as folks from all over New Zealand gather to make an attempt at a Guinness World Record to have the most people simultaneously preparing meat over open coals. Everyone is invited to take part in the Guinness World Record attempt Biggest Braai in the World.

Set up in the centre of the arena, the barbeque fires will be surrounded by market stalls offering delectable local and South African fare – traditional cuisine, crafts and confectionary will be on sale and visitors can wander around as the mood takes them.
Children will be fully catered for in the form of activities like bouncy castles and there is sure to be plenty to keep even the most active youngster happy.

SAMCA (South African Mid Central Association) in conjunction with local business and government are going all out to make this event a spectacular day. No effort is being spared to ensure that the practicalities are also taken care of and the whole day is planned to be a well organised, exciting event with loads of things for everyone to do and enjoy.

This colourful, spectacular day will be one not to be missed – the sights, sounds, smells and flavours of years of combined South African and New Zealand culture and heritage promise a whole day of happy enjoyment for everyone.
