Another round from this Monthly original music showcase. Our special guests this month will be: Plum Green, Secret Knock and Harmonica Lewinsky

MC'd with musical contributions from Ian Simpson.

Plum Green’s music is enigmatic and deep. Her mixture of acoustic folk and hardcore grunge has made an impact and secured a loyal following. Plum Green has always had this mix of youthful wisdom, naïve worldliness, a corrupt innocent, which makes her music and lyrics heady and intriguing.

Her latest release is her self titled ep which can be found at Amplifier and on Itunes and also sold at gigs. She is currently working on future releases including her first album which is set to be released later on this year.

Secret Knock - The unique bass guitar styling of Greg Minter and the intricate percussion of Manuel Kahura combine elements of classical, jazz, and rock music, concocting a potent brew of original bass'n'drum music.

Harmonica Lewinsky play aggressive post-modern rock music with acoustic guitars and cheap drum machines. There are no harmonicas involved.

We have recorded an EP/mini album which we are self-releasing on cassette and we're experimenting with different ways of performing this music live. At the moment this is mostly based around vocals, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, and drum machines but other configurations are being explored too. We are performing as a two-piece or three-piece but this is also variable.

Core members are Felix (vocals, guitars) who began his career in the 90s with Auckland group Headless Chickens before moving on to playing in unknown bands in seedy bars and now mostly plays in his bedroom, and Lena (bass, vocals). Lena's trajectory has been in the opposite direction having begun as a solo artist performing in the cafes of Waiheke Island before forming the high-energy rock n roll bands The Homewreckers and Clench who built a respectable following before disbanding last year.
