Tauranga Musical theatre is proud to bring you this Award Tony Award winning hit musical. Written by the same team as the much loved Les Miserables has been seen by over 30 million people in 25 countries. It is based on Puccini's classic opera Madame Butterfly. Set in Saigon in April 1975 it follows the story of Chris, a troubled American G.I., and Kim, an orphaned Vietnamese woman, who find comfort in each other as the Vietnam War spirals out of control. On the evening of the largest helicopter evacuation in history, the two are separated and Chris is forced to leave Vietnam without his love. Three years after the war's end the two struggle to deal with the emotional aftermath of their affair while moving on with their new lives. Chris, now married, discovers that he has a young son with Kim, while Kim clings to the hope that she and Chris will be reunited and raise their son together as an American boy.

With a stunning score Miss Saigon includes the songs ‘the Heat Is On In Saigon', 'Why God Why', 'Bui Doi' and 'The American Dream'.

Find out for yourself why "Miss Saigon" is one of Broadway's largest running musicals of all time!
