New Orleans Piano Playing ‘hoodoo’ Legend Hits Town

Six times Grammy-award winning jazz legend Dr John will seduce the Bay with his musical gumbo –an exotic brew of jazz, soul, blues, funk, R&B, boogie-woogie and Creole roots.

Igniting the jazz world for over half a century this charismatic singer and pianist is a staple of the New Orleans music scene and is universally celebrated as a living embodiment of Jazz - he even had a Muppet created in his honour.

Performing and recording with many artists including Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Sonny and Cher, Van Morrison, and Aretha Franklin to name a few, his impressivelist of Grammy awards include the recent ‘2008 Best Contemporary Blues Album for ‘City that Care Forgot’ an album of lament for his native New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
