NZTrio is committed to uncovering the unique artistic voices of the Asia-Pacific region and presenting them alongside timeless works. Their passion and excitement for the piano trio genre places this ensemble firmly in the centre of a continually evolving chamber music tradition.
This concert features the premiere of two new works from composers Judy Bailey (commissioned by the NZTrio and CMNZ) and Stuart Greenbaum ‘The Year Without a Summer’, a piece which was written for and dedicated to NZTrio as the result of the Trans-Tasman Composer Exchange. Also on the programme is Robert Schumann's Piano Trio No 1 in D minor together with eloquent Mozart and Arvo Pärt’s reverent response to a sublime piano adagio.
