The Dawn Chorus by Louise Dentice on display at the Corban Estate Arts Centre from 16th April – 23rd May 2010.
The Dawn Chorus is a personal exploration of the relationship humans have with birds. Spanning thousands of years, birds have been simultaneously revered, sacrificed, hunted for pleasure and food and kept as caged pets.
The viewer is confronted by wall mounted ceramic bird’s heads that echo hunter’s trophies, staring ominously from all corners of the room. Other birds, tethered to their ceramic plinths, perch like taxidermied museum pieces forever fated to imitate life, never to live it.
Opening Thursday 15th April from 6pm.
