Richard Adams and Nigel Gavin – two highly talented musicians in their own right – are now performing together on a tour of the country with Arts on Tour New Zealand.
Violinist Richard Adams is a gifted painter whose work has exhibited internationally and who believes that the visual and musical sides of his personality each set the other on fire. Richard has played for many years with Nairobi Trio and is co-founder of Neon Quaver.
Guitarist Nigel Gavin is known for his work with Nairobi Trio, The Jews Brothers Band, Bravura, and the popular guitar orchestra, Gitbox Rebellion. Among the many albums he has contributed to are those by Wayne Gillespie, Whirimako Black, and esteemed veteran guitarist, Robert Fripp.
What the critics/ other musicians say
“….When they play together….there is that rare alchemy at work where each inspires the other, where melodies can twist on an emphasis, and the improvisation is instinctively taken in a new and rewarding direction…….It must take something special and rare for Richard Adams and Nigel Gavin to produce music of such diversity yet coherence, to play at the top of their game, but to leave room for each other, to be a master of an instrument, yet let it have its own voice.” -Graham Reid
"….first class musical alchemy!" "...incredibly wonderfully intelligent!" - National Radio
"These performers play with a passion and flair that international audiences adore" - Stephane Grappelli
