Takeshi Yasuda is one of the most celebrated potters working in the world today.
A British potter, born in Japan, Takeshi trained at the Dasei-Gama Pottery in Mashiko between 1963 and 1966, he has lived in Great Britain since 1973.
His early work consisted of ash-glaze stoneware, after which he explored Sancai and creamware. Most recently Yasuda has been working with celadon-glazed porcelain.
Takeshi Yasuda's exhibition at the Brett McDowell Gallery in Dunedin from the 9th to the 29th of April consists of new porcelain works, bottles, cups, bowls and a signature 'plateau' work.
Takeshi Yasuda's work is held in many public collections worldwide, most notably the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
