The world famous Harlem Gospel Choir makes a long-awaited return to Auckland in April performing a concert melding popular gospel music with a tribute to Michael Jackson.

Harlem Gospel Choir’s ‘Concert of Hope - Remembering Michael Jackson’ will feature some of the world’s most popular gospel music including O Happy Day, Man From Galilee and Will you be there?

The Concert of Hope also celebrates the life & music of their friend and compatriot, the late Michael Jackson with a special tribute of the songs that made him the most significant figure in the world of pop-music over the last 30 years including We Are The World, Billie Jean and You Are Not Alone.

Harlem Gospel Choir’s relationship with Michael Jackson goes back to the choir’s founder, Allen Bailey, and his very first tour with The Commodores who were performing as the opening act for the Jackson 5 on a national tour of the United States. That connection forged on the road, was later to continue through its dealings with Motown Records.

In 2009, members of Harlem Gospel Choir were humbled to be invited to take part in the NBC broadcast of Michael Jackson’s funeral service. Their performance of Michael Jackson songs is in memory of a truly great and inspirational figure of the world of pop music.

Harlem Gospel Choir travels the globe sharing its joy of faith through its music. Allen Bailey was inspired to form the choir while attending a celebration in honour of Martin Luther King Jr. at the Cotton Club in Harlem. The choir represents the finest singers and musicians from Harlem's black churches and the New York area.
