The University of Waikato invites you to join economic leaders to hear the latest insights into the Global Economic Crisis. The seminar series addresses some of the big picture issues surrounding us at the moment.
Professor Ralph Lattimore, Adjunct Professor Victoria University discusses "The New World Trade Architecture: Looking Through the Global Recession".
This talk will survey a range of external economic factors likely to affect New Zealand agricultural and other markets over the next few years beyond the resolution of the global recession. The most important factors identified are not monetary and financial effects. These will likely have important influences in the short-run while the global recession is worked through. However, barring extreme monetary and prudential policy reactions overseas the biggest shifts in New Zealand’s external environment will come from the real economy.
Cash bar open from 5.30pm
