The Inaugural ‘Paparoa Coast Surf-Fest’

A 100% Mobile Surfing Event

Where is the Paparoa Coast?
This coastline winds itself from the mouth of the Buller River at Westport in the north to the Grey River at Greymouth in the south, bordering the Paparoa Range and the Paparoa National Park.

Where exactly is the event?
Based in Punakaiki (famous for it’s Pancake Rocks, Blowholes and stunning coastlines) we’ll be chasing the best waves from Fox River to Rapahoe.

What’s the event all about?
This event is about everyone having a damn good time, together at the beach, while surfing. It’s about the whole family, surfers, kids, mums, dads, aunties’s, uncle’s nana’s and poppa’s. You get the drift.

We’re totally mobile based from a big truck totally decked out with a fleet of 4wds, vans and trailers.

Why take this approach?
We want to get the kids totally amped about surfing and going to the beach!
They are our future and will be the stars of our sport in the years to come. Many surf events do not cater for the family unit, this can put stress on everyone, this one takes the stress right out.

Surf Events Include:
Open Men & Womens
Junior Men & Womens
Grand Masters
Big Air Comp & Expression Session
Plus
Tag Team Event

Other Events:
Beach clean-up with the team from ‘A Day at the Beach’ www.adayatthebeach.co.nz
Conservation week starts on Sunday the 13th www.conservationweek.co.nz

Kids Events & Activities:
Sandcastles, Bouncy Castle, Treasure Hunts, Stories, Missions!

SUP Demonstrations:
In association with Exit Surf there will be SUP demonstrations and keen folk will be encouraged to give this a whirl. This is one of the fastest growing watersports in the world, we’re keen to showcase the scope this has for giving people access to the ocean and waterways in an entirely different way.

Loads of fun for everyone!
Boredom Will Not Be Tolerated

We have concentrated our efforts on providing something for everyone:
- Epic locations for the surfers to enjoy and experience
- 100% Mobile to get the best waves on the day
- Specific events and activities for children and parents alike

What are the breaks like?
We’ve a range of breaks within a short drive time from Punakaiki, reefs, beachies, & river bars. If you are not familiar with this section of coastline then you should come and check it out.

Who is running this event?
This contest is organised by Zane & Justin Smith (two amped cousins) with good mate Robbie Barrow and a small crew of locals. We all live right on these breaks, we’re a friendly bunch and keen to enjoy what we have with likeminded crew. The event is run to ISA rules and we take pride in running a professional event.
