The Body Festival

Kia ora and Welcome to the Body Festival 2009.

The Body Festival offers 16 days of jam-packed dance activity with an array of dance performances, as well as our much loved have-a-go dance workshops. Where else can you watch a performance aboard a bus, witness the debut of Christchurch’s own contemporary dance company, join in the world’s largest line dance attempt or fall in love with the dance of your dreams at a ‘speed dancing’ event?

We kick off the Festival again with a whopper – and it’s smokin’! Grab your Stetson, cowboy boots and chequered shirt, and mosey on down to Victoria Square on Friday 25 September to lend your legs to our world’s largest line dance attempt. Join us as we slide along on our own, especially commissioned, 'Body Festival Slide’ choreographed by Mary Stanley-Shepherd of the Cathedral City Line Dancers.

The Body Festival keeps pumping until 11 October. So jump on board the dance wave that is taking the world by storm and celebrate the wonderful, wild and sometimes wacky world of dance that is the Body Festival 2009.
