The Young Singers In Harmony Programme is a way for students to study and perform barbershop harmony in school music programmes and as a co-curricular activity.
This year's national secondary schools finals competition is known as "Auckland In Harmony".
30 male and female quartets and 26 choruses from 40 unique schools across New Zealand will gather at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau to battle their a cappella musical skills.
Quartet contest: Tuesday 15 September, from 12 noon - 4pm
Chorus contest: Wednesday 16 September, from 10am - 3pm
Parade of Champions showcase concert: Wednesday 16 September, from 7pm - 9:30pm
Top 3 place-getters of the quartet and chorus categories will be invited to perform in the "Parade of Champions" showcase concert, with guest artists:
- Musical Island Boys (2006 Interinaonal Barbershop Harmony Society Collegiate Champion Quartet; 2009 10th place International Barbershop Harmony Society quartet) and
- OC TIMES (2008 Interational Barbershop Harmony Society Champion Quartet).
