Tracy Chevalier, author of the highly acclaimed international bestseller 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' is in New Zealand for the first time and discussing her latest novel 'Remarkable Creatures'.
Based on the life of Mary Anning of Lyme Regis, 'Remarkable Creatures' is the story of how one woman's gift transcends class and gender to lead to some of the most important discioveries of the nineteenth century. The story of Mary Anning, who unearthed some of the first complete dinosaur marine reptile fossils in England, is a story of working-class woman and the frienship which develops with Elizabeth Philpot, a woman from a very weathly background.
