Raced over 6400m (4 miles) jumping 25 fences and 3 times over the famous Ellerslie Hill, the 'Kiwi Bacon Great Northern Steeplechase' is a race founded on courage, stamina and sheer determination - for both horse and rider.
Off track action on Great Northern Day at Ellerslie includes Show Pony - the famous Fujifilm Whips n Spurs Spring Party, where the young and young at heart come out to play (check out www.whipsnspurs.co.nz)!
With another nine races on the card including the 'Fully Fledged @ Fairdale Great Northern Hurdle' you can ensure this will be a brilliant day of entertainment both on and off the track!
